Kebbi Police Rescue 6 Abducted Victims after Gun Battle with Bandits

The Kebbi State Police Command has announced the rescue of six abducted victims following a gun battle with armed bandits.

The victims, including Abubakar B. Abubakar (25), Nasiru Magawata (18), Abdul Magawata (15), Buhari Ukuhu (17), Kamalu Magawata (12), and Naziru Magawata (11), were successfully rescued unhurt and have been reunited with their families after medical examination.

The Command‘s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, a gang of unidentified armed bandits with dangerous weapons invaded Ukuhu, Tungar Wazga, and Unguwar Chiroma villages in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of the state, and kidnapped ten people on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 1600hrs.

“Following a credible lead, the Divisional Police Officer, Danko, swiftly mobilized a combined team of policemen and local vigilantes, pursued the hoodlums, blocked them at Marina village bordering Zamfara State, and engaged them in a fierce gun duel.

“The aggressive confrontation made the armed bandits abandon some of their victims and flee into the Zamfara forest with possible gunshot injuries. Search and rescue operations are being intensified with a view to rescuing the remaining four kidnapped victims and ensuring the possible apprehension of the fleeing culprits,” CSP Abubakar stated.

Commenting on the successful operation, the Kebbi Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, commended the DPO Danko and his team for their swift response to the distress call, professionalism, and bravery.

CP Sani reiterated the Command‘s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of Kebbi residents.

He further emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration between security agencies and members of the public, urging them to continue supporting the police with timely, vital, and accurate information that could assist in crime prevention and prompt response to security threats in the state.
