The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has destroyed fake, banned, and expired regulated products worth ₦55 billion in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The items destroyed also included unregistered and adulterated products.

NAFDAC disclosed this on Friday, noting that the products were voluntarily submitted to the Agency by over 70 compliant companies, non-governmental organisations, and trade unions.
Speaking on the development, the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, stated that the destruction forms part of the Agency’s sustained efforts to prevent the re-entry of dangerous and unwholesome products into circulation.

Prof. Adeyeye called on religious and community leaders, health practitioners, and all Nigerians to educate their families and communities on the dangers of patronising quacks and unauthorised medicine and food dealers.
She emphasised that collective action is essential to safeguarding public health and safety.
