
The Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller Joseph Olugbuyi Adelaja has reffairmed commitment to interagency partnership in protecting lives and shielding national borders.
Comptroller Adelaja made the pledge on Tuesday, March 25, when he paid a visit alongside the senior officers of the Command to sister agencies in Oyo State, including 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
This is according to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Abdulmalik Abiodun Akintola.
During his visit to the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army and the NIS, Adelaja expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with fellow security agencies, and acknowledged their critical roles in safeguarding national borders, protecting lives, and maintaining security within the country.
He highlighted the core functions of the NCS, including revenue generation, trade facilitation and suppression of smuggling.
The Comptroller reiterated the Command’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with security agencies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the aforementioned areas.
“Furthermore, Comptroller Adelaja called for increased cooperation in joint training programs, coordinated border operations, and enhanced intelligence sharing to ensure national security and economic stability.
“During his visit to NAFDAC, he commended the agency for its unwavering efforts in ensuring public health and safety. He particularly praised NAFDAC’s role in preventing the circulation of unsafe pharmaceutical products, food items, and other essential goods, reaffirming the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to supporting regulatory enforcement efforts,” the statement noted.
The Oyo/Osun Customs boss stressed the Service’s dedication to fostering strong partnerships with all relevant agencies in ensuring seamless collaboration for the collective good of the nation.
On their parts, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major Gen. Obinna Onubogu; the Controller of the NIS, Mr. Olutayo Dada; and the Zonal Director of NAFDAC, Mrs. Roseline Ajayi assured Adelaja of their support and reiterated their commitment to continued collaboration with Customs.
They also pledged their collective efforts to strengthen the interagency cooperation for the security and prosperity of the nation.
