The Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Moses Adewole, disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday, noting that the successes were achieved through sustained intelligence-driven operations, enhanced collaboration with sister security agencies, and the dedication and professionalism of the Command’s officers.
DC Adewole expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Customs management team for their visionary leadership, strategic direction, and unwavering support, which he said continue to enhance the operational effectiveness of commands across the Service.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to discharging its statutory mandates of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling, and facilitation of legitimate trade in line with the policy thrust and reform agenda of CGC Adeniyi.

Adewole revealed that three suspects were arrested and are currently undergoing investigation in connection with the seizure of the three pump-action rifles.
According to him, the Command is working closely with the Customs Intelligence Unit, Customs Police Unit, and the Legal Unit to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attempted smuggling of the firearms and ensure that all persons connected to the unlawful act are brought to justice.
DC Adewole declared that, through effective intelligence gathering and collaboration with the Amotekun Corps in Ibadan, the Command apprehended another suspect involved in fraudulent activities and impersonation.
He stated that the suspect allegedly defrauded unsuspecting members of the public by falsely claiming to facilitate recruitment into the Service in exchange for financial gratification.
While noting that investigations into the matter are ongoing, he reiterated that recruitment into the NCS is transparent, merit-based, and conducted strictly through officially approved channels.
Adewole advised members of the public to remain vigilant and disregard individuals who claim to offer employment opportunities in exchange for money.
He stressed that the interceptions have helped safeguard the nation’s economy, protect local industries, enhance public safety, and frustrate the activities of economic saboteurs and criminal elements.
He said that the achievement reflects the dedication, professionalism, and commitment of the Command’s officers, as well as the cooperation of compliant stakeholders and members of the trading community.
Adewole reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to plugging revenue leakages and ensuring maximum revenue collection in accordance with extant laws and government policies.
He announced that the Command would present Commendation Awards to deserving officers and personnel who have distinguished themselves through exemplary conduct, exceptional dedication, and outstanding service delivery as part of its commitment to promoting excellence and rewarding outstanding performance.
He explained that the awards are intended to recognise merit, encourage professionalism, and motivate officers and personnel to continue upholding the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and service excellence.
DC Adewole congratulated all award recipients and commended the Command’s workforce for their resilience and commitment.
He equally thanked stakeholders, sister security agencies, members of the business community, and the media for their continued partnership, cooperation, and support.
Adewole emphasised that their contributions remain invaluable to the achievement of the Command’s collective goals.
He further assured the general public that the Command would remain resolute in combating smuggling, facilitating legitimate trade, protecting national security, and contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic growth and prosperity.
