‘You Stand as Success, Role Model to Many Youths’, Obi Hails Okonjo-Iweala at 70

The Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi has lauded Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her 70th birthday saying ‘she stands as a symbol of success and role model to many youths’.

Mr. Obi sent the congratulary message on X, formerly Twitter on Thursday.

“I would like to celebrate my Very Dear Elder Sister and Director General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala @NOIweala, as she marks her 70th birthday today.

“I rejoice with and celebrate her for the very impactful contributions she has made to our nation and to the global community.

“On the national level, she has served, among others, as a finance minister of the nation, where she immensely contributed to improving Nigeria’s financial stability and encouraged fiscal discipline and transparency through her anti-corruption campaigns,” he said.

The former Anambra State Governor stated that Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala stands tall on the global stage as the first woman and the first African to head the WTO.

According to him, the Nigeria former Finance Minister has continued to enjoy the trust and confidence of governments around the world due to her honesty, integrity and commitment to the advancement of the cause of humanity.

“Today, she stands as a symbol of success and role model to many youths, inspiring them unto greater achievements, while contributing to the nation. May God grant her more healthy and fruitful years as she continues to contribute to a better nation and humanity,” he added.
