Ogun II Customs Records ₦15.1bn Revenue in 4 Months

The Ogun II Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that it generated ₦15,191,227,503 billion between January and April 2025.

The collection comprises excise duties (₦8,333,039,874); and Free Trade Zone activities (₦7,164,777,965), representing a 40% increase compared to ₦9,165,717,162 billion recorded in the same period last year.

Comptroller Bisi Alade, the Customs Area Controller, disclosed this during a press briefing on the Command’s activities for the first quarter of 2025 in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Friday.

According to him, the Command generated ₦4,000,335,353 in January, ₦3,486,267,681 in February, ₦3,444,179,992 in March, and ₦4,260,444,476 in April, amounting to a total of ₦15,191,227,503.

His words: “Through our strategic efforts and unified operations, the Ogun II Area Command has generated the sum of Fifteen billion, one hundred and ninety-one million, two hundred and twenty-seven thousand, five hundred and three Naira, eighty-two kobo (₦15,191,227,503.82) as revenue collected for the first quarter of 2025.

“Interestingly, this revenue represents about a 40% increase compared to the Nine billion, one hundred and sixty-five million, seven hundred and seventeen thousand, one hundred and sixty-two naira and ninety-nine kobo (₦9,165,717,162.99 kb) recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.

“This achievement is a testament to the diligence, commitment, and professionalism of our officers and men who have worked tirelessly to ensure we exceed our revenue targets. It is also indicative of our unwavering commitment to the economic growth and development of our dear nation.”

Comptroller Alade revealed that the Command also discovered another unauthorised factory operating illegally, which has now been brought under excise control.

He attributed the success to several strategic initiatives implemented in recent months, including enhancing the Command Monitoring Unit’s operations, improved intelligence gathering, strengthened stakeholders’ engagement and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

“This aligns perfectly with the policy thrust of our Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR’s principles of Consolidation, Collaboration, and Innovation. His visionary leadership and enabling support are crucial in enhancing our capabilities and driving these impressive results,” he stated.

The Comptroller reiterated the Command’s commitment to surpassing this performance in the coming months, with improved compliance by the trading community, partners at Free Trade Zones, and the bonded terminal within its Area of Responsibility (AoR).

Alade affirmed that the Command will continue to engage in dialogue and educate stakeholders and the local business community.

He stressed that the Command will sustain its success through synergy with other partners while discharging its statutory responsibilities of enforcing compliance with government fiscal policy.

The Ogun II Customs boss expressed gratitude to the officers and men of the Command for their hard work, dedication, and professionalism.

“Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, and our achievements reflect excellence,” he noted.

He also thanked Comptroller Adeniyi and his management team for their enormous support in enhancing the Command’s activities in Ogun State.
