2025 Ballon d’Or: Nigeria’s Madugu, Nnadozie Nominated for Women’s Coach, Goalkeeper of the Year

The Super Falcons duo of coach Justine Madugu and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie have been nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards in the categories of Women’s Team Coach of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year respectively.

The award organisers disclosed the nominees’ list on Thursday.

Madugu and Nnadozie’s recognition comes after they led Nigeria’s senior women’s national team to their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco.

Nigeria rallied from two goals down to defeat the host nation 3-2.

Other nominees for the coach award, officially known as the Women’s Johan Cruyff Trophy, include Chelsea’s Sonia Bompastor and Brazil women’s national team manager Arthur Elias.

The nominees also include Arsenal Women head coach Renee Slegers and Sarina Weigman of the England Women’s National Team.

Similarly, other nominees for the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year (Yachine Trophy) include Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany), Cata Coll (Spain), Hannah Hampton (England), and Daphne Van Domselaar (Netherlands).

The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France on Monday, September 22, 2025.
