Obi Donates ₦30m to Dominican University for Development

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has donated ₦30 million to Dominican University, Ibadan, to support the ongoing development of the institution.

Obi disclosed this on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, emphasising the importance of education to national development.

While engaging with students of the university, he urged them to strive for excellence in both their academic pursuits and character.

“After what I found to be a valuable interaction, including a question-and-answer session, I donated ₦30 million to support the university’s ongoing development. This reaffirmed my belief that education is the cornerstone of progress,” he wrote.

Obi also recalled an incident that renewed his hope for Nigeria during the visit, saying: “I had forgotten my phone, and as I was leaving the university, students found it and returned it to me. This act of honesty reflects what Dominican University stands for: not only as a centre of learning but also as a place where character is shaped.”

He expressed confidence that if Nigerians and their leaders place equal emphasis on education and moral integrity, the country’s greatness would be well within reach.
