NCAA Summons Air Peace Over Heathrow-Abuja Flight Disruptions, Refund Complaints

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has summoned Air Peace over several unexplained disruptions, including an incident involving its Heathrow-Abuja flight on Saturday.
The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NCAA, Michael Achimugu, disclosed this in a post on X (formerly Twitter), noting that Air Peace has been summoned to the Authority’s headquarters for an urgent meeting on Monday.
Achimugu revealed that complaints were received from passengers on the Heathrow-Abuja flight, who said that they were rerouted via Gatwick and Lagos before continuing to Abuja and were left stranded in Lagos following a reported air return due to a cracked windshield.
“The above, along with cases of delayed refunds, compensations/first needs, has activated the Consumer Protection Department of the NCAA. We will not tolerate any abandonment of paying passengers.
“While the Authority continues to support domestic carriers, we hold all operators to the strictest standards,” he stated.
Achimugu affirmed that an investigation into the disruptions would be conducted and appropriate action taken based on the facts of the incident, in line with Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.
He reiterated the Authority’s commitment to protecting the rights of all stakeholders.
