The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Nigeria, is set to bring together policymakers, regulators, industry operators, investors, academics and other stakeholders to develop practical solutions to the country’s transport and logistics challenges at its 2026 National Conference.
The conference, scheduled to hold from October 21 to 23 at NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, will focus on the theme, “Transforming Nigeria’s Transport and Logistics Systems for Shared Prosperity and Sustainable Infrastructure.”
Speaking at a pre-conference press briefing held at the NIMASA Resource Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos, on Wednesday, Dr. Ogochukwu Ogboma, who represented the Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, Professor Kayode Oyesiku, said the conference was designed as a solutions focused platform for addressing challenges confronting Nigeria’s transport and logistics sector.
According to Ogboma, the conference will provide an opportunity for policymakers, regulators, operators, investors, academics, technology providers, development partners, students and young professionals to examine key challenges, identify priorities and develop partnerships capable of driving implementation.
She noted that transport and logistics affect virtually every aspect of the economy, including the movement of agricultural produce, industrial inputs and finished goods, access to markets, business competitiveness and employment opportunities.
The conference will promote an integrated transport system in which road, rail, aviation, maritime transport, inland waterways, ports, terminals, logistics hubs and last mile services complement one another.
Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Professor Ayo Omotayo, is expected to lead the keynote discourse, while the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will attend as Special Guest of Honour.
The conference will feature six major panel sessions covering sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructure; digital transformation and smart logistics; integrated multimodal connectivity; governance, policy reform and infrastructure financing; human capital development and professional excellence; and inclusive mobility and logistics for national development.
Academic paper presentations will form part of the programme to strengthen evidence based discussions, while the NEXT GEN Hour will provide students and young professionals with opportunities for mentoring, innovation and leadership development.
The programme will also include a technical field tour designed to connect conference discussions with operational realities, as well as a conference dinner and awards to recognise excellence in the sector.
The conference is expected to attract more than 500 participants from across the transport and logistics industry, government, regulatory agencies, academia, the private sector, professional bodies and other stakeholder groups.
Ogboma urged transport and logistics companies, professional associations, unions, regulators, researchers, investors, technology firms, development partners, students and other interested members of the public to participate in the three-day conference.
The conference is expected to conclude with a communiqué outlining priority recommendations and commitments arising from the sessions.
