Customs, Police Strengthen Security Partnership, Intelligence Sharing in Niger

The Niger/Kogi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Niger State Police Command have strengthened their inter-agency security partnership and intelligence-sharing efforts as part of measures to ensure coordinated responses to emerging security threats.

The partnership was reinforced when the Acting Customs Area Controller of the Niger/Kogi Area Command, Deputy Comptroller Solomon Nwankwegu, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, on November 3, 2026.

Speaking during the engagement, DC Nwankwegu highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing prevailing security challenges, particularly in border security, intelligence gathering, crime prevention, and the protection of lives and property.

He noted that no security agency could effectively tackle security threats in isolation, stressing the need for sustained synergy, mutual support, and timely exchange of intelligence among relevant security institutions.

In his response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the Police Command’s readiness to strengthen its existing partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service in the collective interest of public safety, law enforcement, and national security.
