No Increase in Petrol Price, NNPC Assures Nigerians

Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), has assured Nigerians that there won’t be increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol.

This comes following reports circulating on social media in the last few days that petrol will be sold at the rate of nine hundred to one thousand naira (N900 – N1,000) per litre in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the company in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr. Olufemi Soneye said the reports are false.

“The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd. assures the public that there is no imminent increase in the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

“NNPC Ltd. urges Nigerians to disregard unfounded rumours and assures them that there are no plans for an upward review of the PMS price,” it stated.

NNPC advised motorists not to engage in panic buying, adding that there is presently ample available of PMS across the country.
