Africa Shouldn’t Expect Much from Trump – Shehu Sani

A former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has advised African countries not to expect significant benefits from Donald Trump’s presidency.

Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States (U.S.) in Washington D.C. on Monday, having served as the 45th President from 2017 to 2021.

Reacting to the inauguration of President Trump on X (formerly Twitter), Sani predicted tough times for the global community as “a disruptor takes power”.

His words: “Mr Trump takes over the American Presidency today. A disruptor takes power. It’s going to be a great challenge to the World. It’s going to be an American Nationalist and Businessman Vs the World.

“He will pull the plug or change the plugs at the UN, EU, NATO and the American relations with the World. He will be feared and not loved and will ultimately face resistance by allies and foes.”

He said that Trump will try to reset everything, which will in turn bring about discomfort.

“Africa should not expect anything much from Trump, even though Biden didn’t do much either. Trump is back and sadly without Mugabe. Trump may be the drug the World needs to wake up or to stay awake,” the human rights activist continued.

He, however, encouraged the rest of the world not give up or compromise its universal human values.
