The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have reassured residents in the territory of adequate security.
In a statement issued by the FCT CDPRO, DSC Monica Ojobi on Thursday, the reassurance was given during a courtesy visit by the FCT Commissioner of Police (CP), Olatunji Disu, to the FCT NSCDC Command headquarters, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
While receiving the CP Disu, the FCT NSCDC Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu expressed confidence that the visit will strengthen the already existing synergy between both organisations.
Dr. Odumosu stated that the visit would also foster service delivery and adequate protection of residents as well as all Critical National Asset and Infrastructure (CNAI) in the FCT.
“Collaboration is crucial to achieving shared goals in maintaining peace and security as no single organization holds a monopoly of strategy in security management. We need each other because unity and teamwork is essential in effectively tackling the security challenges in the FCT and the country at large,” he said.
Odumosu reiterated that the corps’ preparedness to effectively collaborate with the police is ensuring that crimes and other nefarious activities are “nipped in the bud”.
He warned those with criminal intentions during the yuletide season to desist as both organisations are working strongly to ensure a peaceful Christmas celebration and holiday in the FCT.
The Commandant also urged residents to be security conscious and be proactive by informing security officials of any suspicious movement or activities within their vicinities.
He described the CP as one of Nigeria’s finest Police Commissioners with vast experience, which is beneficial to addressing insecurity.
In his response, CP Disu highlighted the critical importance of synergy between both organisations, stressing on the need for prompt intelligence report sharing.
He stated that successful collaboration can be enhanced through joint trainings and engagement in sporting activities that will help to bridge the gaps between operatives of both organisations.
The CP assured the NSCDC FCT Commandant of his unwavering commitment to sustaining the robust relationship, which will trickle down to officers and men of both agencies especially during field operations.
He lauded the existing working relationship between him and the FCT Commandant, whom he described as a brother, friend and colleague.
To commemorate this significant visit, both security heads exchanged gifts, symbolising deep mutual respect and unwavering commitment to national security.
