NAFDAC Confiscates Unregistered, Fake Pharmaceutical Products Worth Over N110m, Arrests 15 Offenders

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confiscated fake, unregistered, and unwholesome pharmaceutical products valued at over N110,938,800 during a nationwide enforcement operation targeting drug hawkers and peddlers.
At least 15 offenders were arrested in connection with the clampdown.
The agency carried out the raids across several locations including Lagos and Kaduna metropolis, Abuja, and Asaba, where hawkers were found selling expired, banned, and counterfeit medicines.
Confiscated items include aphrodisiacs, oxytocins, narcotic analgesics such as Tramadol and Morphine, sex enhancement drugs, antibiotics, and painkillers.
All offending products were evacuated from the scene, and the violators have been detained pending further interrogation, according to NAFDAC.
Director General of NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, reiterated that the sale and distribution of medicines in unapproved locations is illegal and punishable.
She warned that those caught engaging in such activities would face strict sanctions and urged Nigerians to stop patronising drug hawkers and peddlers.
She further reassured the public that NAFDAC remains committed to ensuring the safety, wholesomeness, and quality of all regulated products offered for sale nationwide.
Consumers are advised to remain vigilant, exercise caution when purchasing medicines, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest NAFDAC office.
