America’s Secretary of State, Marco Rubio has revealed the reason why he will not attend the 2025 G20 summit in Johannesburg.
This year’s summit is scheduled to take place from November 22 to 23 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Group of Twenty, commonly referred to as (G20) is an international forum of both developing and developed countries which seeks to find solutions to global economic and financial issues.
“I will NOT attend the G20 summit in Johannesburg. South Africa is doing very bad things. Expropriating private property. Using G20 to promote “solidarity, equality, & sustainability.” In other words: DEI and climate change.
“My job is to advance America’s national interests, not waste taxpayer money or coddle anti-Americanism,” Rubio wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
The G20 comprises 19 countries, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, and Italy.
Others are Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, United Kingdom, and United States, and two regional bodies, which are the European Union (EU) and the African Union (AU).
According to G20, its members include the world’s major economies, representing 85% of global Gross Domestic Product, over 75% of international trade, and about two-thirds of the world population.
