Police Partners UNDP, GS Foundation on Advanced Training to Boost Officers’ Capacity

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced a partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the GS Foundation on Advanced Facilitators Training Program to improve the instructional and leadership capabilities of its officers.

The training, held at the National Institute of Police Studies (NIPS), Abuja, takes place in two sessions from February 10 to 15, and February 17 to 22, 2025.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police Public Relations Officer who made this known in a statement on Thursday, noted that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun was represented at the opening session by Commissioner of Police, Department of Training and Development, CP Rashad B. Afegbua.

Adejobi explained that the training participants were carefully selected based on their outstanding performance in the Basic Facilitators Program.

“This advanced program aims to further equip them with high-level facilitation skills, enabling them to serve as facilitators to other officers, thereby ensuring a sustainable capacity-building framework within the Force,” he stated.

NPF expressed gratitude to UNDP and GS Foundation for their invaluable support in sponsoring the program.

The security agency said that the training will further strengthen its commitment to professionalism, excellence, and improved service delivery.

It reiterated its commitment to personnel development and capacity building, recognising its role in driving effective reforms in Nigeria’s policing system.
