Nigeria and South Africa have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost their mining partnership, aiming to enhance economic cooperation and development in both countries.
The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, who disclosed this on Wednesday, stated that the MoU was signed during a meeting with Gwede Mantashe, South Africa’s Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy.
Dr. Alake said that the agreement will focus on geology, mining and mineral processing and facilitate knowledge and technology transfer, promote investment, and support capacity building.
“Together, we’ve taken a significant step in strengthening the ties between Nigeria and South Africa through a new focus on the mining sector,” he stated.
The Minister noted that the collaboration holds great potential for job creation and economic diversification, thereby driving growth across Africa.
He added: “Together, we can achieve remarkable things for Africa’s future.”
