Akwa Ibom Governor, Eno Dumps PDP for APC

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Umo Eno, has decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Governor Eno disclosed his defection during a press conference in Uyo, the state capital on Friday.

“Having completed the rounds of my consultations as your servant, I have therefore decided to progressively moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We are not joining the APC from a position of weakness, we are joining the APC from a position of strength,” he stated.

The governor added that he joined the APC to stand firmly behind the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Recall that the Delta State Governor, Mr. Sheriff Oborevwori; the immediate past governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Okowa; and other members of the PDP in the state defected to the APC in April 2025.
