The Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), on Thursday, resumed its medical checkup and routine weekly exercise programme aimed at improving the health and wellness of its officers in the discharge of their duties.
The programme, held at the Command’s premises, was reinstated by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Chidi Chukwumeziri Nwokorie.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs Mohammed Tajuddeen Salisu.
In his opening remarks, Comptroller Nwokorie said that the initiative reflects the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi‘s commitment to promoting a balance between work and health, describing it as “work-life balance.”
He urged officers not to see the exercise as an obligation but as an opportunity to monitor their health and detect any potential issues early.
Nwokorie stated that the medical checkups would be conducted bi-weekly, and a mandatory weekly fitness exercise would be implemented to boost the morale and physical readiness of officers and men of the Command in fulfilling the Service’s core mandates effectively.
The event concluded with officers participating in various sporting activities, including football, basketball, and table tennis.
