Unpaid Allowances Issue Resolved with NFF — Ekong

The captain of the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s senior national team, William Troost-Ekong, has revealed that the non-payment of allowances to the players and officials has been resolved with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The Super Eagles had earlier refused to train in Morocco ahead of their 2026 World Cup playoff against Gabon on Thursday, citing unpaid allowances dating back six years.

“Once resolution is found, we will be the first to confirm,” Ekong posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

He stated that every other claim or demand beyond the rightful request was false, emphasising that the players remained focused on the important games ahead.

However, the 32-year-old defender later affirmed that the issue was sorted out on Wednesday, saying: “Issue resolved. Outstanding financials cleared.”

He added that the team is united and focused, as before, on representing Nigeria to the best of their ability in the games ahead.
