Ekong, 2 Other Nigerians Make AFCON Team of the Tournament

Having won the man of the competition after the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) between Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire, William Troost-Ekong has been selected amongst the team of the tournament.

The duo of Ola Aina and Ademola Lookman occupied the right back and left wing of the attack respectively to make it three (3) Nigerians in the best eleven (11) of the competition.

South Africa’s Ronwen Williams is in between the sticks for the goalkeeping position and Chancel Mbemba of Congo in centre back partnership with Ekong, with Ghislain Konan (Cote d’Ivoire player) in left back.

The midfield has the trio of Teboho Mokoena (South Africa) and two Ivorians; Jean Michael Seri and Franck Kessie.

On the right wing of the attack is Yoane Wissa (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Equatorial Guinea’s Emilio Nsue alongside Lookman to complete the three-man upfront – and South Africa’s Emerse Fae as the coach of the team.

The host nation and Jose Peseiro’s side have the highest number of players in the team (3 each).
