Ahead of the 11th edition of the Okpekpe International 10km Road Race scheduled for May 30 in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, organisers have announced the closure of registration for the prestigious event and intensified preparations for the race.
The organisers disclosed this on Facebook and expressed gratitude to athletes who registered to be part of this year’s edition.
“Registration for the Okpekpe International 10km Road Race 2026 has officially closed.
“The excitement continues to build as we prepare for another unforgettable race experience on May 30, 2026,” the post said.
The organisers also expressed readiness to welcome athletes, enthusiasts, supporters, and visitors to Okpekpe for what they described as one of Africa’s most prestigious road races.
They further revealed that accreditation and number pick-up will take place at Uyi Grand Hotel in Auchi on Friday, May 29, 2026, while the action is expected to air on M4Stv across various digital platforms.
Organisers had earlier announced the appointment of Dr. Adebukola Bojuwoye as the head of the medical unit and Carloha Nigeria as the official automobile sponsor.
According to the organisers, Carloha Nigeria, the authorised dealer of Chery vehicles in Nigeria, will deploy two Chery HIMLA pickup trucks as the official lead vehicles for the professional and VIP runners during the race.
The vehicles are also expected to carry the race timing systems and remain positioned ahead of the athletes throughout the competition.
