The Maritime Police Command has reiterated its commitment to accountability, professionalism, and effective stakeholder engagement in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities within Nigeria’s maritime environment.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Command, AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat, made the pledge during a meeting with representatives of the Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN), South-West Zone, led by its Chairman, Mr. Joseph Ajoku, at the Maritime Police Command, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos.

AIG Nurat assured IMAN that accountability, professionalism, and respect for due process remain fundamental principles guiding the Command’s operations.
She also assured the delegation of the Command’s willingness to continuously review its operational processes, strengthen internal accountability mechanisms, and address legitimate concerns brought to its attention through appropriate channels.
The AIG further sought the continued cooperation of the Association and other maritime stakeholders, particularly through the timely sharing of credible information and constructive feedback capable of enhancing intelligence-led policing, preventing criminal activities, and improving the overall security architecture within the port environment.

In his response, Mr. Ajoku appreciated the AIG for the opportunity for direct engagement and dialogue.
He expressed the Association’s willingness to collaborate with the Maritime Police Command to promote a secure, transparent, and efficient port environment conducive to legitimate trade.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its relationship with stakeholders across the maritime sector and to delivering professional, accountable, intelligence-led, and people-oriented policing in support of national security and economic prosperity.
