Police Repel Terrorist Attack in Borno, Recover Arms in Sokoto, Delta

In its fight against all forms of crime and criminality across the country, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced that it repelled a group of armed and dreaded terrorists in Borno State on Thursday, November 28, 2024.

The NPF said the group of unknown armed individuals attacked the Jakana Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno at about 1:00 am.

The Public Relations Officer of the Force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, December 1, 2024.

According to ACP Adejobi, they were, however, met with strong resistance from gallant operatives of the Borno State Command of the NPF, who successfully repelled the attack and left many of the attackers with varying degrees of bullet wounds, while one police officer was injured and is currently responding to treatment.

“Similarly, on November 25th 2024, operatives attached to the Sokoto State Police Command, along with operatives from other sister security agencies, conducted raids on several black spots and bandits camps across various areas in the state, clearing out the camps and recovering some AK47 rifles and several magazines, each loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition.

“Occupants of the camp took to their heels upon noticing the presence of the operatives while efforts are on top gear to apprehend them all,” the police spokesperson said.

In the same vein, police operatives attached to the Delta State Command on November 28, 2024, acting on a report of attempted kidnapping at Asaba, immediately swung into action, giving hot chase to the suspected kidnappers.

The operatives intercepted and engaged the suspects in a gun duel, overpowering the suspected kidnappers and forcing them to flee into a nearby bush with sustained bullet injuries.

“Subsequent search of the suspected kidnappers’ operational vehicle led to the recovery of 3 Ak-47 rifle, 2 pump action rifles, 1 Ak-47 magazine, 8 rounds of AR Live ammunition, and 21 rounds of live cartridges,” Adejobi revealed.

He reiterated that the security agency has remained steadfast and unyielding in its efforts to neutralise every threat to national security, adding that the approach has led to several successes.

Reacting to the development, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun commended the gallant operatives for their steadfastness, commitment to duty, and bravery in the face of danger, leading to the remarkable feats and made recoveries.

IGP Egbetokun admonished its officers to remain brave and continue to decimate the plans and antics of criminally minded individuals in the country, while ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in Nigeria.
